Moment started making lenses in 2014. Since then it has gained a lot popularity. Moment’s new released lenses are of four type: Superfish (fisheye), Wide, Tele Portrait and Macro. The updated lenses has a wide diameter to provide a more secure attachment to the moment smartphone cases. Quality of lenses was also upgraded to give an edge to edge clarity.

In the beginning there was a metal plate used for mounting the lenses to the camera. Some people preferred that as it let any case use the lens and it was easier to swap lenses this way. Later iPhone changed it’s design in the new model iPhone 7 and iPhone Pro. Moment had to change their mounting plate that could fit the new iPhone models. This new mounting plate brought a slight gap between the lens and the camera and because of that minor photography distortion were seen. With so much money spending in the lenses moment experts came up with new designs which gave much more clarity and close attachment to the case.

These lenses are not made of plastic and neither are they manufactured in a factory. These are handcrafted little nubs with aerospace-grade metal. These lenses’ glasses are made of several other pieces of glass. The wide angle lens itself is made up from 5 different glass pieces. They are mounted to moment case with twist and lock system. Attaching them with the case is easy and simple. Using these lenses is just like using DSLR lenses where you can change the lenses according to your need.

Moment lenses in comparison to other lenses are much better in quality. There are no discoloration, quality loss and curvature in the photos of these lenses. Moment gives iOS app with several manual photo control to take the best photos lenses could take. Not only does it helps in capturing the photos but it also write metadata down for you. You could tell the app which lens you used to capture the photo and it will be added with the photo to review in the phone. This way you could separate the photos on the basis of the lenses they were captured with. For professional travel photographers it is an amazing device as it is light in weight and easier to port than those with heavy big cameras.

Moment lenses are better in quality, they are small and solid and they are easily portable. They give DSLR like photography experience, but not exactly the same. They need their own cases for mounting of the lenses. Are they useful? -If you have enough money and are a mobile photography enthusiast then this is the best you got. .
