2017 has been the year of 3D printing. Many 3D printing startup companies announced intentions to print flying cars and supercars. In 2017 metal printing also started instead of old plastic 3D printing. HP also made its entrance into the 3D printing world. Companies have announced so many things that one person can only be amazed at hearing them. As the 3D printing continues to grow, a competitive war started between the companies to fill the market with more 3D printers that could do more.
In the beginning of the year Markforged announced that Metal X will enter the metal 3D printing world. This printer was pretty cheap in comparison to other printers that can cost over a million dollars. Later Ferrari gave us a shock by saying that they will use 3D technologies to improve their F1 race cars. Daqri an american company has developed 3D printing technique by just printing items with the use of holograms. They use lasers to print these instruments, instead of making it layer by layer this technique make it in just one part.

Some innovative 3D companies

● Carbon: Carbon’s M1 3D printer is capable of changing elastomer materials in isotropic parts with surface finish and mechanical properties. Carbon’s M1 3D printer can print objects 100 times faster than other 3D printers.
● HP: In 2016 HP released its 3D printers- HP Jet Fusion 3D 3200 and HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200. 3200 was launched for prototype functioning and 4200 was launched for fast and efficient printing. This year HP printers have been gaining popularity for their breakthrough.
● Desktop Metal: This company was launched in 2015 by few MIT professors. It is the youngest company among them all. But in spite of being young, this company has been known for always trying to come up with new technologies of 3D printing. They launched their first printer after working on it for two years- Studio System. This printer can be used with a desktop and works quite faster. Even after working for a cheaper product printer still came out pretty expensive. But what they offer in their printers is still cheaper than other comparable printers.
● Formlabs: Formlabs was founded by MIT graduates. Formlabs is the first company which brought SLA 3D printer in the market. This company’s printer Form 2 is the most popular printer in the market right now.
● Made in Space: Made in Space develops technologies to be used in space. The company believes that it is much easier to make the things in outer space rather than making them here and then send them out. This company has developed a zero gravity printer.

All these companies and printers have been revolutionary for the world. They are all trying to improve the quality of 3D printers and trying to make them cheaper for the public. Where some printers are not yet very powerful, they intent on being so in coming future. All companies have shown intentions of making a breakthrough for a better future.
